Subject: Maui Youth and Family Services, Inc.-Omaopio Residential Facility

                        Applications for State Land Use Commission Special Use Permit and

                        County Conditional Use Permit (TMK 2-2-03-41)

It has come to the attention of the Kula Community Association that there will be a Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday, February 8, 2000 to discuss and possibly approve the Special Use Permit Application for a residential youth facility on Omaopio Road.  Since we have not yet had the opportunity to study this matter, we would appreciate the Planning Commission informing our community and providing interested citizens the opportunity to present oral and written testimony.

At the February 3, 2000 meeting of the Kula Community Association Board of Directors the following resolution was unanimously adopted:

The Board of Directors of the Kula Community Association requests that the County of Maui Planning Commission defer all action on the Special and Conditional Use Permit       Applications of the Maui Youth and Family Services for a youth facility on Omaopio Road until after a public hearing with adequate notice is held on this matter at an evening meeting in Kula and that no action be taken on this matter without public notice and opportunity for comment.
